HELP - Service Stabilitrak & Service Traction Control
Keep in mind the "SERVICE STABILATRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" can be a catch all error for an issue the vehicle computer is not able to readily identify....
Vehicles are getting smarter but the on-board is not the be all end all of diagnostics... the error can be a general drive-ability issue from a throttle body to a wheel speed sensor...

I have an 07 Tahoe. I'm having the same problem that I see in this multitude of GM vehicle owners. My "SERVICE STABILATRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" messages keep coming on. My truck slams into 2nd gear. When I start it, my truck sounds like a German diesel vehicle. The loss of power is readily apparent. Can ANYBODY from GM tell us what the problem is? I'm tired of going to the dealer and giving away money for a job they couldn't do. $95 for a diagnosis, a few hundred dollars for a fix that isn't fixed. The "CHECK ENGINE" light stays on, so, I can't use my remote start. I tried switching brands of gasoline and even going to a lower octane. Still the same. I'm guessing GM knows about this, yet, for some unknown reason, won't do anything to ratify it (without charging it's loyal customers excessive fees) HELP!!!!!
We truly apologize for the continuing concerns with your vehicle as we can understand how frustrating this may seem. Update....I took my truck into the dealer and they found the SL-N-SENSOR (06522-CT) It is the steering wheel position sensor the cost was $63.08 and 500.97 to install it.. I wasn't convinced that to two could be connected but I had them do the repair and I immediately drove the truck 21 hrs straight and 1200 miles without shutting it off. The lights have not came back on so I have hope that they have fixed it... I hope this helps others solve the mystery of the traction control and stabilitrak problems..
So I have had my ST light, Check Engine light and my TC Off light come on so many times that I can't remember. I have an 07 Tahoe LT. I have taken to the dealer at least 4 differnt times. The first and maybe the second time it was still inder warrenty but it wasn't covered. The third time I spent about 600$...this last time no charge because they "felt" bad that I kept having the problem and that was 4 weeks ago and the lights have all come on again this morning. The transmission shifts so hard and it feels as if I'm losing power. On my last visit...the dealer tells me that it was cause by the Gas that I'm putting into my car. He says that computer says that I have too much "alcohol" in my gas tank and that I should stick to one gas station so that my car dosn't get confused. Or if I have to get gas at another station, to drive my car at least 7 miles so that it has time to recognize the change. I use regular gas mainly bought from Kroger Fuel Center. This sounds crazy to me. Well, I have done as instructed and my lights are on again. This is not just frustrating but scary when I have to deal with it. Especially when I have an toddler in the car.
I have a 2007 Equinox and the Service Stabilitrak and Check Engine light came on in late June of 2015 and remained on for about 5 months. I took it to a mechanic in November of 2015 for an oil change and battery issue and when he had it I had him check into the lights. He could not find any codes or obvious problems with the truck. The truck never ran bad or had transmission trouble like others on here have mentioned. I searched lots of forums on the internet without any solutions. Then I tried YouTube and found a video of a guy that had the same lights on with a solution. He said it was the E.G.R. valve and showed how to replace it. I picked up one at my local parts store the next day for about $60 or $70 and replaced it in about 10 minutes. I disconnected the battery cable then reconnected it and started the truck, the lights were out and haven't been back on since, it has been over 2 months now. Very simple fix and not very expensive either. It worked for me, hopefully it will do the trick for many of you too.
2007 Yukon. Really shocked at the amount of people dealing with this issue with no recall on it. My first issue was oil consumption. Now my service stabilitrak and traction control is coming on and off, usually if I'm sitting still for a little bit or when I first take off that comes with a hard shift into second gear then it stays off. My remote start isn't working, my rear passenger window control doesn't work either. Unsure if maybe this sounds familiar to anyone with these issues because I've saw several different types of issues with this. I did recently change the wheels on the Yukon and I have a tire sensor that needs replacing. This morning I did have a park assist off message on my dash also. Really upset with the stabilitrak/traction control issue with the amounts of snow yesterday switching on and off..... made our trip home much more dangerous than it should have been. Has anyone had any response from GMC regarding this issue?!
We went up snowmobiling this weekend and I was talking with a GM tech, he is a mechanic at chevy dealership in Wisconsin. I told him about all the problems we are having with our stabilitrac issues and such. He flat out told me that its a HUGE money maker at the dealerships. He said that there are tons of things that can cause that problem and the only way to get it fixed is to pay the dealership to do a diagnosis. You can start changing parts but you will end up at the dealer eventually.
We just fixed the stabilitrak/traction control issue on a friends 07.5 Chevy 1500. There are two vacuum fittings that caused his issue. One was on the passenger side between the air intake and the front side of the fuel rail. The second is on the drivers side at the back of the fuel rail. The factory rubber that connects to the plastic lines were cracked badly on both sides. We just used some rubber fuel line to replace the cracked factory rubber and it solved the problem.
