Default Instrument cluster compatibility

Hi guys. Got a 2005 suburban. Some years ago, I got an "expert" to fix my cluster as lights were dying. In fact, he just traded mine for another already fixed. Now all lights are dead again. New expert says board is screwed by last one and can't fix anything. So gotta find a new cluster. I bought a couple of silverado 99-06 clusters. Same part number. One is a reman that respond to steering wheel controls but has a different programming than I'm used to. The other does not respond to steering wheel controls. So the question is can we reprogram any cluster for GM trucks 99-06 for my 05 Suburban or there's only some that are compatible? Thanks. Part number 15114656
