Default New owner... getting pretty bad MPG. Normal??

Just bought a 2013 Suburban LT. Have been driving it in two-wheel drive. Going very easy on the pedal. So far, I have about 150 miles on it... 80% city/local driving... 20% highway.

I looked this morning at the average MPG (on the car computer) and it is listed at 9.5 mpg. Not what I was hoping to see as the vehicle is advertised as 15/21.

Is this normal?

Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.

You need to wait until you have more mileage on it before you make an assessment of the miles per gallon.

I get about 13 in town and 18 to 19 on the highway at 70 to 75 miles per hour.

Why is that? Will the MPG improve as the engine breaks-in?

Yep. I would give it at least 500 miles.

Okay... makes me a little nervous, but I'll take the advice. Not sure if I could live with 9 mpg.

I would mention it to the dealer when I take it in then.
