Default Road Trip Results - '07 Tahoe LTZ

First long trip in the Tahoe. Drove from San Jose, CA to Arnold, CA. 161 miles each way. The last 60 miles or so on the way there is uphill to about 5000 feet elevation. The truck got great mileage on the way there and back. I passed (legally) some cars here and there and it had the passing power on demand. Comfortable ride all the way. We even drove around town a bit in the hills there. Some steep hills and such.

Put a full tank in it just before we left (gas station is 0.6 miles from our home). Tota trip odometer after the trip said 340 miles and I still have a little less than 1/8th of a tank left. The DIC says I have 68 miles to empty. With a mix of cruising, passing, hills, and city driving here and there, that's some great mileage for a full-sized SUV loaded with 2 adults, 2 kids, golf clubs, luggage, toys, and a bunch of food.

All I can say is "WOW." I think you said previously that your truck is still stock, no exhaust, intakes, etc. That's great, I was wondering if I could even get 300 miles on the tank - I have a trip to Santa Barbara coming up - I guess that will be my test...

I am leaving this Wednesday night or early Thursday AM for the coast to have a few adult beverages on the beach. Should be around 400 miles round trip...Will post the MPG next week.

From the LA area I drove into Kings Canyon this weekend and probably could have filled up only once if I started on a full tank, I wasn't really paying attention to the mileage.
All i know is that when I do a road trip the overall average always goes up .2 MPG

This weekend and next weekend I am driving up to mammoth mountian and tahoe respectivly and I will pay better attention to the mileage for you guys. All I know is that it is cool to see the car holding 65 in V4 mode getting 26 MPG on the instant economy read out, I only wish it would hang in there longer.

Alright, i'm getting the hint that i drive too fast. I've got to get my foot out of it and check the mileage. I did get lucky today, I was listening to voicemail (handsfree) and blew by a fuzz going over 85, luckily he was getting off the freeway - i must've hit a shift change... mad that i didn't figure out why everyone else was going so slow...

infraredcalvin - It's not just you. On the freeways I go that fast. I was on back country roads that weren't to condusive to the excessive speed. Plus leaving kings you always have guys pulling campers and there are a lot of no passing zones. Sometimes it just feels like torture.

Are you seeing 26 MPG @ 65 mph on the level or is that downhill?

It might have been a very slight decent, I was on 63 south going through all the farmland. I know on an uphill I wouldn't be getting that. I haven't had it go into V4 mode while going up hill.
