Default RE: Tire Pressure Sensors?

I bought some winter rims and tires for my truck from discount tire, took them to the dealership to have them install new tpm sensors in the new tires from discount. For some reason every time I turn on the truck now it is telling me to check the tire pressure. I went to a 10 ply winter snow tire, which max's out at 80psi, I currently am running them at about 65 pounds. How do I tell my tpms that it's ok for my tires to have more air pressure now??? FYI... I asked my service manager at the dealership and he didn't know, I also looked in the book. Thanks!!!

Discount tire would have sold you the tpms with your package for a lower price than dealer price. You must have dealer reprogram vehicle's computer with the new psi info. You will also have to do the same thing when the season changes and you return to original wheel and tire. I've read on previous posts that this is a .5 to 1 hour dealer charge. I haven't done mine yet because I'm waiting to do it when I have my oil changed. I called one dealer and he said that it is a two hour job. Good Luck

I paid $1,300.00 for MB Razor 17" rims (discount tire x-clusive I think) and Cooper 265-75-17 Discoverer M S 10 ply or load range E tires. Then I took them to the dealership and paid $350.00 for new TPMS sensors, nitrogen inflation, and installation. This was supposed to include hooking up the tech 2 to the truck and reprogramming it for these tires. I thoucht I paid a fair price for everything, I just didn't want errors. So far I still have errors. OH Well, Looks like I'll be visiting my favorite dealership on Monday morning.

If i take my sensors off my factory wheels and just put them on my aftermarket wheels and locate them in the same place; will they need to be reprogrammed?

Wasnt sure if they were simply removed from one wheel to a different one if there was anything to relearn or reprogram??

According to manual (and it makes sense) Each one has a unique code. The programming lets the truck know which location is associated with that code. If you put them in the same location there is no need to reprogram. That code is already associated with the location.

To relearn the sensor locations, the dealership can use the up/down pressure method or more readily do it with a SPX/Kent-More J-46079 TPMS reset tool uploaded with the latest K-M software v.3.3.
