Transmission Fluid Level
ok...thats why i'm baffled??? when its cold or off the level reads above full, not where the cold level is. when its running it reads at the cold level. and yes this is after running it for 15 min and driving about 10 min...
Like Tech2 said, the cold mark is for checking the level when first cranking the motor. Its like a safety check to make sure there is plenty of fluid in it prior to driving it.
After driving it and getting the transmission fluid up to operating temperature, if the fluid level is low then add some more (in small amounts) until it reaches the full mark.
This is opposite of checking engine oil. The dipstick is designed for checking engine oil with the motor off and having been off for at least 5 minutes (to let the oil drain back into the oil pan).
Transmission fluid measurement method is not equal to engine oil measurement method
