Default VSS Switch with out splicing

I have an idea!!! (not that often, but still ya know).

I want to do the VSS switch mod in my 09 Tahoe Nav system to allow address destinations while moving and scrolling of the address book while moving... (And I don't want to hear any bitching from you people since other car companies allow this factory).

I honestly don't feel temporarily denying the Nav system a VSS signal every now and then will harm it. I am assuming that the voltage of the wire goes to 0 below 5 MPH. You are basically telling the sat nav the truck is not moving.

I have read (here) that this mod does work for the above features.

BUT. I don't want to splice / cut / wire a damn thing in my brand new expensive truck.

SO, what I need from you guys is the exact model # or ability to get 2 parts.

1. I need the part that comes out of the truck, the brown connector w/a green wire.
2. I need the female side of this connector.

I want to build a simple device where by we unplug the factory VSS connector (brown) and plug in the new one.

The Lockpick does this same thing for hookup!

I have attached a draft drawing of my idea...

Thanks for your guys help! If I can find a supplier for these I could sell them as a ready to install kit on ebay!

Let me know where I can buy the 2 connectors I need. thanks!

Default VSS cable

Has anyone traced the VSS wire that goes to the sat nav BACK to where it comes from?

IE where is the other end of this cable, and is it in an easier to reach location?

Does anyone have access to the manuals that would tell me this?

Male end

GM doesn't make the female end, you might find them as part of a radio integration module, or a simple wiring harness that matches. With that, you'll probably get the pins that fit in there. I THINK these are the pins you need but not 100% sure

The only issue I see with this mod, is the 12 or so other wires in that connector. You will have to jumper them from one connector to the other....but that is easily fixed

Default wow

wow that was fast, thanks!

How / where does the lock pick co get their 'female' ones?
(If anyone has a lock pick, if there are any numbers on the FEMALE connector (the ones that goes to the truck) please post up!

Correct, I would just 'pass through' the other wires.... I think there are 3-4.

Does GM use this connector anywhere else in the vehicle? (I found reference to these connectors being used on a pontiac transmission lol)

Perhaps it does have a female side, just not on the radio....

When I googled your part #s i found this too:

and these!

Would it be easier to attack the other end of this wire? It has to go somewhere, right?!
Do we know where the other end attaches to the truck?

If the truck was built with nav, it is located in connector X2, pin position H1, of the junction block to the left of the brake pedal. Its a green\white wire

Connector X2 is on the backside of the block, the bottom of the 2 big black connectors

You could put the switch there, and most techs wouldn't know what it was for so they wouldn't try to void the warranty on the radio

Default or

or remove it before taking it in... =-o

mostly I just don't want to hackup my truck, but yes, removing it would remove all evidence it was ever there.

and make it very easy to install!

I could order all the parts, assemble them and sell them on ebay...lol

here are some kick butt photos of the thing:
