Welcome to the forum.

Does the rear handle latch work? Do the rest of the key fob functions work? After it's open, will the fob close it?

May have to go thru the for programming procedure in the Owner's Manual.

Hi,

It never opens with the FOB the lights flash but that is usually it. The rear handle will make it flash the rear lights and you hear some unlock noise but never even opens.

So i don't believe it is totally broken if it works from inside.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Eric

Does the close button in the bottom of the hatch work?

wile13,

It sounds like the lock actuator isn't engaging completely. This is just a suggestion, not a diagnosis. You may want to take the vehicle in for an inspection. A certified technician will be able to offer an accurate diagnosis with a physical inspection.

Keep us posted.

Default Hmmm...

I appreciate the GM feedback, but don't understand if it opens from the front with NO ISSUE, why would it not open from the rear?

It uses the same system correct? Just a different button. Could the FOB be weak or an issue?

Thanks,

Eric

wile13,

I suppose a weak FOB could be an issue, however then it would also be an issue with the locks, remote start, etc.

Have you changed the vehicles battery recently? Is the battery currently low? Is the liftgate button on the overhead console set to manual mode? Is the liftgate closed completely? The liftgate must be completely closed to power open or completely open to power close.

These are just additional suggestions, not a diagnosis. I encourage you to take the vehicle in for inspection.

Make sure the inside vehicle switch is not in the "LOCK-Out" position, when trying to utilize the Key fob. If lock-out is not on and it still does not work, head into the dealer and have them reset the system with the Tech II scanner and have it all calibrated correctly.

Good luck!
