2 weeks into my new vehicle and i'm ready to sell it
I always wondered why and how a person could return a vehicle after 2-400 miles on a vehicle. I always assumed it
was stuck up folks who have money flowing but now, i've became one of them.
My first car i purchased was a 2019 GMC Acadia. Loved the look of it and how it drove but after taking it for a lengthy drive,
i was in the most awful pain. Mainly around my tailbone. I drove around on it thinking i could break it in. Then i moved on to
trying as many lumbar and seat cushions available with no luck at all. Then my notice came in for my registration and i decided to act
fast. I proceeded to head back to the dealer to see what my options would be. I thought they would laugh me off the lot and i really shouldn't have
thought that way but, i just thought i had a crazy back issue that had little to do with the car but more with me. Even though, i get no pain from my Ford or Dodge.
I let them talk me into a Chevy Traverse. I had to reach a little deeper in the pocket for it but, if i could drive with no pain, i felt it would be worth it. I test drove it, driving
nearly everywhere with it before deciding. Then, i pulled the trigger and decided to get it.
Fast forward to 2 weeks later and, boom, i'm in pain again. This time, although the pain is similiar, it's not the same. Not in the tailbone area but mainly in the
lumbar. Lower in my back, right above my tailbone. I feel like the seat pushes out and then drops at the tailbone. I have horrible soreness and pain after just 10 min. of driving.
The Traverse is less cushiony and a lot more stiff but the contour is a bit better but man, i really feel the burn in my lower back.
I just don't get it. I'm trying to love these vehicles but the seats are sooo bad.
I was going to turn in my man card and get a Kia, now im kinda regretting it.
I also was going to go so far to take out the GMC seats until i thought, *what are you doing*?
Now, i'm super confused and need some guidance from anyone.
I really don't feel like crawling back to the dealer again, besides, i really don't think they have a car that suits me. Seems the seats are pretty standard on all models.
But part of me doesn't what to wait and act fast before i rack up miles on this one too.
Any advice?
Btw, i'm a healthy runner. 6'2 200 pds.
thanks

Why remain miserable? Find a vehicle that will work for you and dump the Traverse. Life is too short to be sriving a vehicle that hurts you, and the pain will take your attention off of driving. Better to sell it now IMO.
My first mistake was going back to the dealer and picking out another one. I mean, I did that thinking that another vehicle would be better and the dealer
may cut me a break. But it wasn't the case. I'm now thinking I should have got away from GM all together.
I would love to walk into another dealer aka, Ford, Nissan, or whatever but this Traverse has me at 42,000 and I may be over my head at this point.
My GMC was 32,000 and I took a hit with it loosing all my incentives.

Before buying anything else, why not rent the same vehicle first and drive it awhile to see if it gives you any problems. It's worth the rental cost to get a vehicle that you won't have the back problems.
Well, that would make sense but not too many 2019 rentals out there. I see where your going though. As I was driving around in the Chevy I was thinking, "what if this starts giving me pain on a trip longer than 30 min?" sure enough..
like I noted though, it hurts me in a different way. The vehicle I own other than the Chevy like I said is a 2014 Dodge, and a 2009 Ford, both, super confortable, no problem at all so, I'm guessing I need to lean towards one of those two brands. That is, assuming they haven't changed their seats much through the years and that may even be a stretch.
I just got off the phone with GMC corporate to see if they can step in. Along with the problem with my seats, my first GMC they sold me, the radiator hose exploded and left my family stranded and GMC roadside assistance refused to pick me up without coordinates, wtf!? I gave them the highway I was on and the exit I was near yet, that was not good enough. Thankfully, onstar helped, but not after being out there for a very long time in 0 degree weather.
I made sure to tell them that.
Keys to note, they signed me over this car asking me to send them a check BUT I forgot to sign it. The deal isn't finalized. I'm hoping I can at least get out
of this deal and keep my original financing and get my old car back. If this works, I will be back to square one and can then drive into another dealership with this and maybe start over with a Ford.
I'll keep you informed with what the Senior Advisors agree with me.

It has the 2.5 liter L4 197 HP motor with _no_ turbocharger. Runs like a champ, and I will never have to deal with the turbo leaking oil or ever have any turbo problems.
I drive semi's for a living so I know that when turbos go out, you are going to pay lots of money to repair it, But heavy vehicle diesel engines are a whole nother kettle of fish. Sure miss the Kitty-CAT motors we used to drive, but CAT pulled out of that market 10 years ago due to all the new emissions laws now on heavy trucks.
Well, just wanted to post an update.
GM Corporate did absolutely nothing for me and of course, the dealer did nothing as well. Needless to say, I gave them the worst review you could give.
Something has to be done about these seats. The Chevy is now leaving me in pain, different than the GMC. Feels like the built in lumbar is without cushion and too far forward.
No way of adjusting it and after about 30 minutes, you will feel it. My wife got in the other day and agreed, the seats are not good.
I will pass this down to the wife and let her deal with it. Pay on it for a year and quickly get rid of it. Such a shame, because I really like everything else on it.
I thought the same about the GMC too...such a shame.

If you really like the vehicle except for the seats, you can look at some of the after market seats such as Ricaro and replace the seats you have. It will be expensive but not as much as the hit you will take by selling and buy a new vehicle.
Almost feel like I've just got a used car with constant problems that I keep putting money into..

I'm at a point where I'm downright scared to gamble on ANY seat out there. I figure after a year, i'll be in better shape to trade in...again
