Default Uplander P0172 code

hi,new year, new problem with the uplander.

my check engine light is coming on, and my code reader says its a p0172. rich condition at bank 1.

ive researched it as best i can and it can be the maf, oxygen sensors.

i removed the maf, and cleaned it well. i verified that its working, so i pretty much ruled that out.

anyone see this code before? tips on getting rid of it without throwing tons of money at it.

thanx all.

What year is your Uplander?
How many miles/Kms on it?

It is hard to know your situation if you don't share that "more info" ...

A quick Google of "p0172 Chev uplander" brought up pages of hits.

Good luck.

assuming you have an 08.

cleaning the maf usually does not fix bad maf sensors. It may be sending signals but they could be skewed...imo no way to know that by looking at scan data unless you have a second vehicle to reference.

this condition can only be caused by:
bad 02 sensor
bad maf
high fuel pressure
leaking purge solenoid
skewed OH sensor if you have a flex fuel vehicle
possibly a bad map sensor

so check your fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge first as this is the easiest to rule out. if your scan tool will show the OH sensor what is the value? If its anything over 10% that's your problem...reset it to 0

its an 2008 with 75,000 km's

bought new and well cared for.

maf has been checked. o2 sensors have been bought, but its unlikely that.

I do have flex fuel.

thanx for the post tech2, excellent advice, its well appreciated.

02 sensors?....this car only uses one precat 02 for fuel trim control. replacing the post cat sensor for this issue would be a complete waste.

if you have a method to check mafs other than replacement...I would love to hear it.
