This gorgeous 1965 Chevy C10 manages to stand out without going to extremes, which isn’t exactly an easy task to accomplish.

For the past 74 years, the Grand National Roadster Show has brought us only the finest roadsters, hot rods, and various other kinds of custom vehicles on the planet. There, countless – and oftentimes priceless – polished jewelry compete for the ultimate prize – the coveted America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) award, which is widely considered to be the most prestigious accolade in the world of hot rodding. This year, that award went to a stunning 1932 Ford two-door Phaeton owned by Beth Myers that was built by Roy Brizio Street Rods, but we were rather enamored with this 1965 Chevy C10 that Chevrolet Forum spotted while we were at the 2024 edition of the Grand National Roadster Show.

This amazing 1965 Chevy C10 pickup is owned by Steve Atilano out of Chino, California, and as one can see from these photos, it’s a stunning creation in more ways than one. However, while pretty much everything we come across at the Grand National Roadster Show has been chopped up, cut, and modified to the hilt, that isn’t necessarily the case here – and honestly, that’s something we can appreciate.

Rather, Atilano chose to simply enhance what is already a gorgeous truck widely celebrated for its timeless design, hammering the body panels so they’re straight as an arrow before applying that deep, dark, gorgeous black paint. All of the original chrome is present and accounted for as well, perfectly accenting that dark hue, and the vintage pickup even rolls on a set of GM’s famous rally wheels. This C10 has been lowered as well, which is perhaps the only clue from the outside that it’s a custom rig and not a full-blown restoration.

Peek past the gorgeous wood bed floor and contrasting white roof, and you’ll find that the interior deviates from this theme just a touch with its old school button tuck-style interior, which gives off a welcoming appearance that makes us want to nestle in the cab. Otherwise, there are a few upgrades present here, ranging from an aftermarket steering wheel and shifter to upgraded gauges and a newer stereo system.

Ultimately, this 1965 Chevy C10 looks like the perfect cruiser, the type of truck one can tool around in and show off on any given sunny weekend. But the true beauty of this build lies in its simplicity – a notable achievement in a world that oftentimes goes a bit too far.
