2021 Chevy Trailblazer: It’s Not Only Back, It’s Cheap

2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Cheap, quality cars have become more of urban legend as of late. The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is coming to change that.

In the ever growing list of SUVs buyers are able to choose, a handful of them are decently affordable, but an even shorter list of them are decently equipped. Many makers offer a basic version of all their cars. However, ‘basic’ often means a lack of desirable creature comforts, and sometimes, safety features. Chevy, taking note, will turn the base model standard upside down with the all new 2021 Trailblazer.

Chevy says that the revived Trailblazer is set to arrive in showrooms by Spring of next year. For the basic models of Trailblazer, which start as low as $20,000 will come with an impressive list of standard features. For instance, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking start the list off. It also will come with front pedestrian braking, auto high beam assist, and a rear facing camera. For added peace of mind, the most basic models will also come with OnStar and a rear seat reminder.

In case buyers are scratching their chin about buying this for a new driver in the family, it also comes with Teen Drive. Which is a Chevy exclusive program to help coach teens how to safely navigate public roads, and their new car.

If the basic model is too basic, buyers can also opt for what Chevy calls ACTIV or RS trim levels. The ACTIV trim package features Hankook Sport Terrain tires and tuned suspension for light-duty off-roading. To further entice the off-road crowd, the ACTIV Trailblazer will also have improved ground clearance over other models. Chevy also noticed how rugged off-roaders tend to outfit their cars, so they took great car in implementing a ‘tougher’ look.

“The Trailblazer doesn’t simply let customers express their personal style. It encourages it with uniquely styled trims that allow buyers to select a vehicle that reflects their lifestyle,” said design director of global Chevrolet compact SUVs, Stuart Norris. “Its design is bold, confident and full of personality.”

The RS trim level is aimed at those who prefer a sportier look. For example, the RS has a unique mesh grille and front splitter elements. From the side, the styling differences are more noticeable. A sleeker roof line and unique hood shape set it apart from the ACTIV and base trim levels. This, according to Chevy, is designed to “accentuate the Trailblazer’s youthful character.”

“Slotting between the Trax and Equinox, the addition of the Trailblazer provides us with a great opportunity to expand the Chevy SUV family to new audiences,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing. “With the new ACTIV trim, plus the sporty RS trim, we can appeal to customers’ varying active lifestyles.”

In terms of power options, Chevy will come with either a 1.2 or 1.3 liter turbo four — either size is projected to make 155 hp. Transmission wise, the choices there are either a CVT or a nine speed automatic, which is only available if the buyer opts for AWD.

The AWD package is unique in the sense that drivers have different AWD modes to choose from. Snow for progressive throttle control and vehicle acceleration on snow and ice, Normal for comfort or commuting, or Sport. The Sport changed up steering effort and shifting. Or, if the driver doesn’t feel AWD is necessary, there is also an option to turn it off completely. Either way, we’re excited to see how far the Trailblazer will take Chevy. Or, better yet, those who end up buying one.
