Behind the Magic: Chevy Corvette, Under the Hood (Photos)
Think you know your Corvette inside out? Chevy exhibit shows you, in fantastic detail, the ‘heart’ that beats beneath the hood.
Chevy certainly caught our attention at the recent Long Beach Grand Prix with a display that looked like something from a cyborg lab. The exhibit featured a bright yellow Corvette set alongside some of the sports car’s innards–including its heart: a C7-R engine–and half-built outers. The awe-inspiring ‘Vette and its clone allowed curious car enthusiasts to see the magic underneath the hood and behind the fantastic bright shell.

Equally as jaw-dropping were the ‘Vette’s tough and wide Michelin tires, which look like they’ve burned plenty of rubber on the track.

And on display near both ‘Vettes was the real star of the show: the 5.5L, 488hp C7-R race engine.

Check out the scene below in our exclusive gallery, which proves that the Chevy Corvette’s beauty is only steel deep, while its power source is the real head-turner.
