If you want muscle car performance but covet a classic box truck, this Chevy C/K is exactly what you’re looking for.

Historically, if you wanted something fast, you bought a car. When you needed to get some work done, you bought a truck. And while we’ve seen the lines between speed and utility blurred a few times in recent history, the two generally remain exclusive of each other. But every now and then, we find a classic Chevy truck with more than just a ho-hum small block under the hood.

What we rarely see is something like this incredible 1977 Chevy C/K, which uses a massive 572 ci big block for motivation. We spotted the 620 hp box Chevy in the Hemmings Classifieds, where it was recently up for grabs. And admittedly, we’re still trying to figure out how we can scrape together the cash to bring it home.

Funny thing is, that massive crate engine might not even be the best part of this Chevy C/K. Because the timeless boxy styling has been treated to some top notch body and paint work. You won’t find any wide panel gaps here, nor any imperfections. The engine bay is so clean you could eat off of it, and so is the undercarriage. Clearly, it’s been a long time since this truck saw a mud puddle.

But no matter clean it looks, we’d have a hard time not smashing the gas pedal over and over. Because the sounds that gargantuan power plant emits through its Super Comp headers and 3″ exhaust are undoubtedly addictive. And we’d bet it throws you back hard in that tan seat thanks to a 4.11 geared 9″ Ford rear end. It’s the perfect ride for anyone who covets classic Chevy truck styling and massive power. Now excuse us while we figure out which organs we can live without.
