GMT800 Chevrolet Tahoe Appears in Halo Trailer for Paramount

Look, we knew the GMT800 Tahoe was stout. Apparently, it’s stout enough to last another 500 years and make it to another planet?

We don’t have to convince you that the GMT800 is a reliable chassis. Whether it be in the form of a truck, Tahoe, Yukon, or Suburban, they’re some of the best budget options one could acquire. Of course, we don’t have to tell you how stout the beloved LS-based third-gen smallblock V8 engine in them is, either. 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0, any flavor will do. If you want something dependable to get you and whatever you’re hauling, be it your family or heavy equipment, you can trust a GMT800 without a doubt. Maybe, though, the folks over at Paramount think even more highly of it than we do?

This hilarious and amazing story comes courtesy of Kristen Lee over at The Drive. Paramount recently released a trailer for their new series based on the video game powerhouse series Halo. Not only is the series set far into the future, but it isn’t even set on planet earth. So the rogue appearance of a humble GMT800 Chevrolet Tahoe in the background of one of the scenes seems quite out of place. However, Lee offers a couple of good theories as to why it might be there.

The All-Old 2525 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The Halo universe takes place in the 26th century, wherein humans have effectively perfected space travel and settled on all sorts of planets throughout the universe. In the year 2525, the human race was attacked by The Covenant, an alien alliance. As a result, humans have to fight The Covenant in order to save our species. For the past two decades, Halo has been a dominant force in the world of video games and even had a handful of short films, graphic novels, and books released to accompany the games. Now, Paramount+ is releasing a series based on the iconic video game lineup. The trailer for which contains this dusty GMT800 Tahoe that is just kind of hanging out in the back.

Lee theorizes that it may be some sort of homage to the start of the Halo universe with the release of the original game in 2001. However, we’re a fair bit more fond of her second theory.

“The second explanation is that I am totally wrong and that there is, in fact, still a Chevy GMT800 Tahoe kicking around 500 years from now and quite possibly on another planet. They’re that reliable,” writes Lee.

Frankly, we love the optimism.

Why couldn’t a GMT800 make it another 500 years? It’s already been proven that one can surpass 500,000 miles. What other proof could you possibly need, right? Who knows, just keep up with the oil changes and regular maintenance. If your family lineage hangs on to your GMT800 and keeps passing it along, perhaps your Tahoe can be the one that makes this pipe dream a reality. But, of course, none of us will be around to see it. So, that gives us all the more reason to say it’s entirely possible. Why? Because nobody alive could possibly prove that it isn’t.

Shine on, you crazy Tahoe.
