Engine stalled
'02 with the 4.3 V6, 193K miles. Driving yesterday and it just died. I was able to get if off the road then towed to my house. I don't have a scan tool, but tried several methods on line. The only readout I got was using the hold the odometer rest button, turn key on, release button, and I got a read of h5311.4. I couldn't find a code like that anywhere. I looked at the method of using a jumper at the connection for a scan tool, but the image I saw showed lumping the upper right two terminals. On my truck those two slots are empty.
I texted a friend who has a scan tool, hopefully I can borrow it and find out what's going on.

Yeah - I think you need a scan tool for sure. Amazon has cheap ones down in the $25 price range. Personally, I use a ODBLink SX cable ($50) that connects to my Windows laptop. So far I really like the ODBLink capabilities, on the 4 vehicles I've used it with anyway.
OldChevy, awesome. Had no idea hours were tracked on an automobile. Commonplace on heavy equipment.
MMJ, no. It died while driving and I tried to restart with no luck.
I checked fuel pressure today, used an old set of refrigeration gauges, went right up to 60 pounds. I'll check for spark with an old spark plug tomorrow when I have help to turn the key. My friend with the scanner might get hear tomorrow sometime.
