I've got a 1995 K3500 Silverado. Ever since i have had it the door chime hasn't worked. Any ideas on how this thing works?

 

Does it have an aftermarket deck?

 

No, its stock but someone ran a trailer brake module under the dash

 

Maybe someone disconnected it? Personally Id be happy, the 1st thing I do when I get a new truck is rig the seatbelt indicater and get rid of the dinger becuase they are all annoying as h*ll to me

Up near the E-brake there should be a black box module about the size of a deck of cards but thicker.... see if you see it and if its there pull it out and check to see if any of the pins are bent over...
Bending one of the pins over ( or removing it by cutting it off) was a mod that could be done to keep the chime off so the door could be left open while listing to the radio...

Im missing this box entirely. i found where it belongs but its unplugged and missing. anyone know where i can find one cheap?

 

Yes, it will resolve all chiming issues, if the PO didn't leave it in the glove box your best bet is a junk yard....
