Hi,
your previous post mentioned that you contacted Louis and Nancy at GM. What did they say?

In my case, I worked entirely through them. They passed my case off to my District Specialist who set everything up. They call the dealer and told them to fix it. Then they told me who to contact at the dealership.

I think that most of the "Out of Warranty" success stories in this forum were handled this way.

I didn't contact the dealer until it was a done deal.

Hope this helps!

No wonder Obama bailed GM out,.... their Customer service is just a worthless as he is. To bad he cant give us free dash, like his health insurance. I never heard the first person from GM tell anyone thanks for helping keep their job. This is your tax dollars at work.

I jus wanted to post a big THANK YOU to GM for helping me with my dash crack. It cracked near the air bag just like the rest of them. I emailed Louis (contact info on page 56) and he responded very quick asked for a little info from me and then told me that my area GM rep would contact me. The next day I got a call from Viki and told her that my 2007 Suburban dash had cracked, the door handle in the back cuts fingers and it is burning oil. She asked me what dealer I wanted to take it to and then gave me a case number. I took my truck in gave the dealer the case number and that was that. The door handle and the dash were replaced. They inspected my engine and installed some shields and I need to go back in 1000 miles to see if it fixed it.

I am the second owner and my truck is out of warranty. It's a 2007 suburban with 84k. I only had to pay the warranty deductible which I gladly paid. Thank you Louis, Viki, Gwatney Chevy of Jacksonville AR and especially GM. I am so greatful that they took care of me and stood by their product.

Just something else not to look forward too with our 2007 Tahoe.
Wife thought at outr age this would be her last vechicle.
But it appears it will be falling apart long before even reaching 100K miles.
It only has 20K on it now!

I have been using 'Protect All" on the dash, and other parts exposed to the sun.
It has a UV blocker that seems to eat everything here in Oklahoma.
Took the Tahoe in tue a week ago, well 8 days, and only heard back once that we were next in line.

With "Major Guard" I think you have the right to rent a car, but haven't been told that.
And the one loaner That David Stanley has, needs a part, its broke.
Maybe I should remind them they do have a large parts dept.

John from the same place that Louis works at was supposed to call today, and he didn't.
Well I guess I can take that shower now.

I am glad to hear you got results, maybe my ranting is making them realize that the dash is defective. As for me they still refuse to do ANYTHING for me on my dash. They have not helped me at all, knowing what I know now, I can't say I would want their help either, even if I went back in time to Desert Storm and was stuck in a trench with hail fire and missiles pounding my *** for 24 hours straight. It some kinda BS, kiss my *** game, they are playing, and they need to own up and fix this.

Default No help from GM...

The customer service rep from GM had me go to my local dealer for them to take a look and when I took it in the guy asked me why I was wanting cost repair assistance for a vehicle that had 76,000 miles on it and out of warentee Then he asked where I purchased it. I told him I bought it used but I don't believe it should matter it is a GM mistake and GM should fix it. But they will not, the service manager called me a few days later as well as the GM customer service rep and informed me they would not be helping me. I don't understand why some people are getting them fixed for not cost and others GM is not helping at all. Then Nancy from GM corporate admitted there was no service bulletin for my truck, so it may be that chevy is not recognizing the siverado as having these problems but the cracks in my dash are in the exact same places as the tahoe and suburban. I'm really dissappointed this is my first chevy, I just lifted it 3 months ago and put 285/70/17s on it and had exhaust put on, and up until this everyone I ran into really thought it was a nice truck. If there is something else someone might suggest I would appreciate the help, but if GM doesn't fix what they broke. I wont be buying another one. :-( and I'm half tempted to post a link to the cracked dash website on my facebook so none of my friends have to deal with this.

I am hoping they take care of me. I make the final payment on my LTZ on the 15th and today while I was detailing her I find a long crack on the left side of the hump above the steering wheel. I would expect a $52,000 vehicle to last more than 5 years before is starts looking like a beater. I bought an easy care bumper to bumper warranty but they may try to call this trim....

Wish me luck but how they handle this will determine if my next vehicle is a GM...

Hello Gents,

I'm a newbie here, and hate to bring another story of disappointment however it should be known. Chevy does have one more chance with Louis. I have contacted him with the details of my case and I'm hoping for a better direction than what Chevy has offered. I own a 2007 Chevy Silverado with these infamous cracks. Embarrassing really. She has a little over 90k miles on her with quality tinted windows and almost showroom condition minus the unsightly dash cracks. Chevy has only offered to cover half. I find this unacceptable and find my expectations to be reasonable. I only hope to get this pass me positively or you bet the farm this will be the last Chevy product owned by my family. I would like to mention my truck is always pampered. maintained to the hilt. I take great pride in all my vehicles as all of you gents do and its such a let down to see. Keeping my fingers crossed.
