I now have the cracked dash. I went out to the Tahoe and saw the big crack by the airbag. It just showed up out of no where. I just bought it used last month from a dealership and they are not wanting to help me on this issue. So now I have to look at this crack for 6 years. Wish I learned about this issue before I bought it.

I’m sorry you are experiencing this issue with your Tahoe vehicle. Have you contacted Chevrolet Customer Service? If so, would you please PM me your case number so I can look into this for you?

If not, I can create a case for you. If you would like me to proceed, PM me the following information: your full name, address, phone number, vehicle mileage, VIN and the name and city of your preferred dealer.

Got me truck back from the dealer today (Sat). Had dropped it off on Friday. It looks like they did a good job. Went over it and no creaking or any noticeable scratches from taking the whole thing apart. Dealer was pretty helpful and quick to solve the problem. Can't say the same from the GM rep who helped me. AFter a friend asked me to "continue working with your District Specialist, as they are in the best position to assist you further with this case." ... all I worked with was a voice mall system. Tried repeatedly to call Damian, my GM service rep. Every time I called...it went straight to voice. After the initial talk with him where he told me what my deductible was going to be....the guy pulled a vanishing act. Guess the guy has naked pictures of someone cause his customer communication skills are non existent. If you ever get that guy... I suggest you ask for a different rep. My dealer was the exact opposite. If I called and didn't get the guy ,I would get the receptionist and the guy would call me back within 5 minutes.

I wasn't the original owner and I had 65k on my 08 truck. If you have the same problem....as the people on this thread, continue to ask for help. It suxs having your baby looking like crap. Oh...not taking any chances on the new dash. Got a nice cover on fleabay. Nothing worse than getting in your truck every morning and seeing a big nasty crack.

Default 2007 Tahoe LTZ Cracked Dash

Hello, I've talked to a GM rep. and I have a case. I haven't talked to the service manager at the dealership. I'll do that on monday. I did go into the dealer to see what they can do about my cracked dash and all they did was make me up an estimate to repair it for a tidy sum of $ 1,200. The GM rep. talked to the dealership and now they want me to bring my Tahoe in so the availuate the crack issue. I know, you r going to ask, why the H*** they do that in the first place. The vehicle has 67K on it and looks and drives like its brand new. I didn't crack the dash myself. Duh?
Anyway, once I talk to the service manager at the dealership I'll let you know how it turn out.
Thanks for your help, Wheels

I have written in many times telling everyone that the dash on my 2007 Suburban LTZ cracked out of nowhere. I had the dash replaced, through my local Chevy dealer for $400. That $1,200 estimate is ridiculous. I don't have any idea what part of the country you are in but I live in South Florida and there should not be any difference in prices. Good luck. They need to do the right thing!!!!

Default guess im in the same boat as the rest

Just picked up a 2007 LTZ with 60k miles. I even went as far as to get the GMPP. My dash is cracked in the usual places also. i've got an appointment with the local gm dealer for a cruise related issue and to get the chrome handles taken care of. he indicated that he wasnt aware of a dash issue. I have a 123 pages from NHTSA website to show him. I hope they will be reasonable & take care of the dash or at least cover it under the GMPP.

Louis whats your thoughts

thanks

scottinga Welcome to the forum

Yeah its pretty amazing how so many dealers seem to be totally " Unaware" of any dash cracking issues...
Please do follow up on your results with the issue and your selected dealer

my wife went in this am, armed with NHTSA docs on chrome peeling and dash cracking. The service manager said they were well aware of both and are gonna cover both. dash and handles ordered. Id say Franklin Chev. in Statesboro is one you can add to the list as a 5 star rated dealership.

WOW!! It is amazing how many people are having the SAME PROBLEM but CHEVY/GM are not handling this as a RECALL and just fix the freaking PROBLEM for all and be done with it as we...the CUSTOMER...THE PEOPLE will not stop until they do the RIGHT thing!! I too have the very same crack by the airbag and on the top by the steerin wheel that's longer than life!! It looks HORRIBLE and is QUITE EMBARRASING to say the least to have this happen in what suppose to be a top notch vehicle! I'm paying top notch dollars but what I got was a low budget busted up hoopty! This has got to stop AMERICA! I want a case...who do I contact...Louis? Expect to hear from me soon. If this issue does not get resolved PEOPLE can u say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!! I CAN!! We have to stand together and make the big companies do what is right by their CONSUMERS WHICH IS HOW THEY GET THEIR BREAD AND BUTTER!!!
