I also have an 07 Tahoe LTZ with cracked dash and peeling door handles. New door handles can be purchased on ebay for $30 or thereabouts, so that's not a big deal, they're easy to replace yourself. I need to take off the door panels anyway to replace the 7 year old Bose speakers. The dash can be had for about $320 online. Question is, have they fixed the design so that it won't just crack as soon as replaced?

The new style dash, and other cosmetics, such as door panels look great, but they appear to be a thin, brittle material, and I suspect the cracking is due to vibrations, not sun or armor-all or any of that. The only fix that I would think would work would be to redesign out of a less brittle material, or attach it in different/more locations to keep it from vibrating.

Thanks for the info but did you get a new dash installed or did you just check what GM is doing to a new dash?

You come off like a real azz. There is almost no way you will get help from the dealer. Seems like you s**t down everyones throat that could help you. They are going to do what they want and you yelling and hollering is going to make them punish you. Between here and the facebook page for cracked dash I have seen tons of people talk that class action suit stuff and guess what nothing happens. No news reports no laws suits, most don't even get help, nothing. Once you calm down you will give up just like everyone else. But hey prove me wrong maybe you are the one guy who gets the class action suit start it. Doubt it.

I have a 2007 Tahoe with 84K and a cracked dash. Same area as many others on this forum. I spoke to my local Chevy dealer - No results. I spoke to GM Customer Relationship Specialists - NO results. I spoke to Louis Henry - NO results. Basically the only reason I was given is because I am the second owner. I have read thru all 75 pages of this forum and there are some that have had success in dashboard replacement even though they are second owners. I have exhausted all my options so now I have submitted a complaint to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). I don't understand why GM does not recall these defective dashboards, obviously there is an issue, otherwise they would have not created a "Goodwill Dash Replacement" program. Please contact the NHTSA if you are receiving a run around like many of us have!!

I'm sorry you are getting the run around.. but as you see above I just took mine in. And I am the second owner. After they took my keys I asked the service tech what was causing the crack. They told me they were not sure. They said tey think it was a bad batch. With that said, GM has granted a replacemnt on any that has cracked with a deductible of 100$ even with no extended warranty. I got no hassle, no b.s. With alll this said I think you need to go to another GM dealership. So in other words.. there is a a conditional recall on these dash boards.
