I am sorry that GM can't fix this problem for free for loyal customers. Its a defect that GM should correct. How many owners on this site will not buy another GM car because of the lousy customer service they are receiving from this problem. Its not the way to run a business. Some dealers will take care of their customers that's how they get them to return and buy again. Its sad that this has become such big problem from GM. GM will save a few dollars by not fixing the dash but will lose thousands when these dissatisfied customers will buy from another brand. Wake up GM and take care of your customers

1. GM does NOT stand behind it's products
2. They deflect the cost of poor quality onto the dealer.
3. They must think that people who spend $50K up on a vehicle have better things to do than chase after them to do the "right thing" and figure maybe 20% will, so it's an acceptable risk and the dealer can absorb that cost by increasing margin on other service while they have the vehicle.
Sound about right? Well look at the # of SUV's they've sold that have this issue. Everyone (100% of the people) that I know that has a 2007-2010 Suburban/Tahoe/Avalanche have had the dash board crack. All having different results, only 1 had the dealer replace at no-cost even though he bought the vehicle used from a different dealer. Mine is in the shop and now they tell me the front part of the dash has broken clips, how does that happen? At the factory?? Now I have to pay for this too, now it's up to $450 for a repair the should NEVER HAVE TO HAPPEN.
CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT Needs to happen.
Even if I only got 20% of my money back I would happy that GM had to deal with this and stopped dumping on it's customers and it's dealers.
My wife wants a 2014 CTS, we went to the Cadillac dealer and now.. After this last call from "GM Corp" telling me they can't verify.. "blah, blah, blah.. you will have to pay.." Really think I would spend ANOTHER $60K on a GM Vehicle?? Really??

My dealer fixed my dash. No hassle no questions. I bought the 08 Suburban used from them with over 100k. I have also bought other vehicles from them. They value their customers and I will buy from them again despite GM's lack of customer service

Since you are an official GM Customer Support Care representative, I would like you to publicly address something for everyone to see:
Why do your authorized service centers charge different rates for something that should be covered under warranty?
Don't give me the generic answer about "We're sorry for... [blah blah blah]". We, the GM customer wants a public explanation for the problems we are all facing with these vehicles. Is GM going to stand behind these issues or not? Your response will be the spring board for the class action lawsuit, so if you do respond (which I bet you are too chicken to do so) you better choose your words wisely. Attorneys are watching.
My dash board was replaced 3 months ago under some magic 60/40 warranty - when I have a FULL zero deductable warranty. I had to pay 40% of the cost. Now, 3 months later, guess what is cracked AGAIN!! You guessed it - my dash.

I recently joined this forum although have been following along for some time. I have a 2007 Tahoe LTZ - 2nd owner - and also have 3 cracks on the dashboard. I spoke to a dealer last week (not the one I purchased it from) and was told $400-$500 to replace it. I asked about GM's involvement as it appears to be an issue. He said because we live in south Florida, it's the hot sun causing the problem, and since it's just a cosmetic issue not a safety issue GM will not get involved. He suggested getting a dashboard cover if I didn't want to spend the money. This is so very frustrating to spend this kind of money on these vehicles and not get any assistance from these companies.

Sounds like the dealer just doesn't want to deal with you. How would they explain the problem with dashes in northern climates. He is giving you a line of BS. Its a design defect everybody including GM knows it and is just blowing it off. Customer blows everybody off they make it sound like you will get help then say its not their problem. Very disappointing

(At this point I know you're just saying on the public forum that you can " look into my resolution further" for show so that anyone who reads your reply will think you're doing something to help. )

Ok. I am not satisfied. Please look into it further. $650 for a defective dash is not satisfactory. I've talked to two different district specialists. Both said "Sorry we can't help anyfurther".

Got mine replaced for $250. I am the 3rd owner and just purchased my 2009 Suburban LTZ a month ago. Sucks that there are so many dashes with this problem but at least it was cheaper than replacing it on my own.
