Default Constant ignition

I have a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 lt (not 4 wheel drive) and when I connect my starter the red wire makes it continuously crank without the key in the ignition. I thought it was my solenoid but I connected a switch to it and to my battery and my car turns on just fine but when I connect the wire that connects to my cars ignition switch it constantly try’s to run. Please help thanks.

Bad ignition switch?
Cables crossed?
Let me know.

Did this start to happen on it's own with nothing being touched or did it start after some work was done to the truck? We need more information.

This started on its own. I had to replace the starter because the solenoid was toast, and the starter sounded like a box of chicklets when I shook it. I also found that the 60 amp fuse at the battery junction box was blown. I replaced it, but still am not getting any voltage reading on the solenoid wire. Am going to trace the wires inside the cab in the morning and see if I can find any fusable links or fuses under the dash

You or a shop replaced the starter? And you are saying the problem you have now started right after the new starter and solenoid install?

It really slows the process but I did learn, after running shops for 35+ years, that the vehicle owner processes information different than the tech sometimes. They don't know how to deliver info when asking for help. That is why I start with more "to the point" questions. It is a lot like when you are trying to tell the doctor what is going on with your body. Sometimes as I ask the questions and the OP does not answer completely what I am asking, I do then just ignore them but I will try in the beginning.

To tell you the truth, it bugs me more when the very first post that someone does is asking about a problem instead of the introduction.
