Hey guys,
I was wondering if anybody knows the name for this part? The part I circled is leaking antifreeze and I'm assuming it's going to the rear heater because I just noticed today that I can't get hot air to blow out of the back since it started leaking.

 

Never mind I figured it out. It's called a GM heater hose connector in case anybody needs this for future reference. Picked up the part made by dorman, the part number is 800-414.

 

I would be surprised if a leak at the quick disconnect would stop all water flow and heat output. If you haven't changed it yet you might consider a gentle flush when you open the line to see if the rear core is moving coolant ok. Just don't go to crazy with the pressure. Last time coolant system flush & fill??

 

I did take care of the issue earlier today, naturally not without an issue haha. The hose with the crimp on it snapped off inside the connector when I was trying to get it off. I took my time and wasn't rough with it because I figured if I muscled it up too much something it going to break, nevertheless, something did. I just cut the hose and put it back on with a hose clamp to secure it. I drove the car around for a bit afterward and once it started getting up to temperature I made sure that I had heat coming out of the front vents and then I clicked the rear vents on, I put my hand up to the roof vents and I could feel heat coming out of there. I noticed when I came to any stop it slowly became less hot. When I got home I sat in the car for about two minutes and the heat coming out of the rear vents cooled down but didn't get cold. When I gave it some gas and stayed on the pedal the heat would get hot as hell again. I don't know if this is a sign of something or if this is just normal and I just never noticed it before.

 

May have air in the sytem affecting coolant flow. After a couple heat/cool cycles check your coolant level

Those achy-breaky plastic fittings have NEVER been a good idea. Yes, quick to install at the factory by morons, but a big problem (typically after warranty period runs out).

 

Lol, wouldn't be any other way than things breaking right after the warranty ends.
That T was such a pain in the *** to get off. As I mentioned, it wasn't the T that broke, it was the plastic fitting they crimped onto the hose, but the other hose connected to the other T has a hose clamp on it, make that make sense.
