Help with p0449 & p0455 codes
Clean and check the seal of the gas cap and the filler neck where the cap seats... a very light coating of silicone lubricant on the gas cap seal might be worth a try....
If you replace the gas cap go with an OEM rather then an after-market, AC/Delco parts are going to have a level of quality control that the after-market may not..

Why does my owners manual say that emission control parts are covered for 80K. I have argued with my dealer and a GM rep. so I may as well post here. I have a 07 Tahoe that we drove to AZ in Dec. 2010 and on the way home with 34K on the clock I got the old loose gas cap (was not) followed by the check engine light. Since I deducted that it was an EVAP issue I decided to wait until we arrived home and take it to the dealer we bought it from. After returning we had accumulated 37,636 mi on the clock and the dealer replaced (according to their invoice) EVAP solenoid valve and charged me $146.80. What's going on here ? Now 31/2 mos. later I am getting the PO455 and GMs rep said it is not covered. This is not that big of an issue to loose a customer over. I am looking forward to your explanation.

PS I offered the exact same info to the dealer, Parsons' of Eagle River

I hope you're able to identify the problem. Every time I read these posts, I see people recommending replacing the gas cap and even putting sealant on the gas cap seal. I've even read people suggesting buying a gas cap from the dealer instead of an aftermarket parts retailer, like the GM caps made in China are better that the other aftermarket brands made in China!!!. First, research the manufacturer of dealer and aftermarket gas caps and you will find there is no real difference in the "QC" process of the gas cap. PLEASE TEST THE VENT VALVE SOLENOID BEFORE YOU WASTE TIME!!! If the vent valve malfunctions, it will also throw a code. Please see the link below before you waste time replacing numerous gas caps. That's the amateur solution. Testing components and actually diagnosing the problem will save you money and heartache!<o
