Question for anyone who has had a random stall problem
Ok it's a '99 Suburban, runs fine but will randomly stall and 99% of the time will start right back up with no wait. I checked and rechecked all grounds I can find and even ran an extra ground from the engine to the battery and also added an engine to body ground. When it stalls it's because of a loss of fuel, but I don't think the pump is bad. It will die and the pump stops, but if you crank it over a couple turns then return the key to run you'll hear the pump prime and it'll start right back up. I'm wondering if it's the crank sensor. Has anyone had similar circumstances?
but I don't think the pump is bad!!! .If I were you, I would have someone check the fuel pressure with the engine idling. It wll leave you on the side of the road one day. JMHO, good luck.
That's what I was going to ask ( bout a code). You'd think a poor FP would give a code. Does it sputter out and die or just dead stop? Can you anticipate it?
You could also go use a good scan tool from an auto parts store and itll check stored stuff and things that don't trip the cel, and you can monitor everything that has a sensor.

I am experiencing same issue on a 2004 Tahoe.
thus far I have changed the following:
-Fuel filter.
-spark plugs.
-air filter.
-cleaned MAF sensor.
next I will change fuel pump and 02 sensors. I was told to also look for a vacuum leak I cant justify that though because my problem only happens once in a while.

I have a 1998 Tahoe 5.7 . the same thing happen to mind . Will crank and run fine until it warms up then start to miss real bad . turn key off for 30 seconds and it cranks right up . it may run 1 mile are 3 miles before it does it again. Please let me know if you come up with may be causeing this thanks
Things that come to mind are throttle position sensor and the O2 sensors going into closed loop..
Check the wire harness for the crank shaft position sensor as it runs near the passenger side exhaust manifold and if it shorts out it can cause drive ability issues..
Also check your fuel pressure, an engine idling can run on minimal fuel but start driving and you could be starved for fuel..
Give this a read also
WHAT THE HOME MECHANIC NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT O2 SENSORS
Please keep us posted on your findings...

I install a throttle position sensor. it help a little . Haven't got a fuel pressure gage yet. Driving the Tahoe after I install the throttle sensor it would run great for 1are 2 miles it then start to backfire and then die. with leaving the key on and recrank it would only miss and backfire but if you would turn off the key for 10 seconds and back on and crank up again it had power to run and no miss for a couple miles . when it would die the fuel pump stop pumping and only start when crank. no prim. when you turn key off it would prim when key turn on. what I am trying to say here it did not seam to be loseing prim. I will get a fuel pressure gage in a couple days and see if that may be it and a couple of O2 sensors thanks . ps if this tell you something please let me know
