My Success Story
Greetings all,
I recently discovered a crack in the dash of my 2007 Tahoe. I have 106,000 miles on it.
I discovered this forum when I was researching the crack issue.
It seemed that the largest number of success stories involved Louis from GM Customer Service.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, I contacted him directly and asked him how I should proceed.
He replied the next day and ask for some information like the VIN, Mileage ect. He created a case and forwarded it to my District Specialist. Victoria contacted me the next day and told me that she had already discussed it with the service manager at my dealership and that they would fix it at no charge.
I decided to strike while the iron was hot and immediately went to my dealer. They ordered the necessary parts and said they would be in today. Since I needed to have some other routine service done, I asked if they could get me a loaner car so I could just leave my Tahoe there. They were happy to oblige.
I got my Tahoe back today and all is well. From original contact with Louis to completion was only 5 days.
Thanks to all of you for pointing me in the right direction and a very special thanks to Louis, Victoria, and Rick Hendrick's Chevrolet for doing the right thing

Unfortunately, I get to join into this discussion. I have a 2007 Silverado LTZ that is garage kept and in excellent condition and as of today has a 4 inch crack in the dash. It is just behind the hump for the instrument cluster. The truck has just over 60,000 miles on it.
Right now, I'm just reading through this forum to try to see where to start with GM (sounds like Louis) to hopefully get my dash replaced without costing an arm and leg.

Gm defective dash
Ivan from GM called to see if anything has changed on my defective dash...I told him it keeps falling in, so NO,.....like I have found a resolution to my problem.
then tells me they are standing on their decision at this time...???? *LMFAO* I told him I'll keep it up til they do!
WTH is he thinking?

after doing this for over a year now I noticed they might not replace it since you parked it in your garage...you have to park your vehicle in certain place, and a certain way for them to replace, because its defective junk! if not it will cost you.I am just being a SMARTASS....Good luck!
Thanks! I have email Louis. I'll keep you all informed.

I get to join the cracked dash club...
I have an 09 Silverado with 76,000 miles and I now have two cracks in my dash one near the passenger airbag and one directly in front of the instrument cluster. I have contacted Louis and Nancy from GM, we will see where this goes from here.

No help from GM
I took my Silverado to Molle Chevrolet in Blue Springs, MO and the end result was a phone call from a service manager stating GM was not going to fix the dash... I was unable to talk to him because I didn't have my phone on me so I will have to talk to him tomorrow or Monday. I am going to print up everything I can find online about this cracked dash issue and take it to the service department and make him tell me to my face. I do find it completely unacceptable they are not willing to fix this.
If after if present my case to the service manager they are still not willing to help me then I have decided to post the entire event on Facebook in small increments including referencing http://tahoe-cracked-dash.webs.com/ over the next six months, so everyone I know is aware of Molle Chevrolet's lack of customer service and GM's unwillingness to fix something they incorrectly designed.
I do know this if they can fix the dash in a truck with over 100,000 miles they should be able to fix one with 76,000 miles.
Thanks for listening to me complain.
