Default Blower fan issues

I need some help for my 2013 Suburban! I have 2 separate issues but all related to the AC system.
Problem 1. After about 30-45 min of driving the blower fan gets loud and hardly any air comes out of the front vents. Rear vents work fine. nice and cold too. First 30 min everything works fine. Cold air, Good flow!

Problem 2. so this happens IF the front vents are working normally, the blower fan cuts in and out. From what i can tell, it happens when i’m coming to a stop such as an intersection. when i step on the gas, it doesn’t do it anymore. i’ve attached a video too where i was coming to a stop.

Things i’ve done already to try to fix both issues:
  1. Replaced the blower fan
  2. Replaced the resistor

I will be replacing the actuator under the passenger side to see if that fixes problem #1.
I also have the cable that goes from the blower fan to the resistor BUT there’s isn’t ANY obvious sign of burn marks. all connection points are super clean.

I know people have had similar issues so i’m hoping someone can shed some light on this. i’ve been chasing this problem for a few months now and want it fixed before summer comes.

Tell us - when the air stops coming out the front vents - whether it starts coming out the defrost vents at the windshield or underneath the dash at the heater vents.

Usually when i drive over 30 minutes straight. It doesn’t happen while street driving.

Default Fixed

So I think it's FIXED! Only time will tell but I figure I would document it just in case it helps someone else out.
I had 2 symptoms:
  1. The blower fan would cut in and out suddenly. Mine was happening when I would come to a stop. No idea why! Sometimes it would do it 2-3 times but other times it would do it like 10 times.
  2. Blower fan would get insanely loud and no flow from the front vents. This usually happened after a 30-45 min drive. It would operate normally after a 30-45 min stop.
NOTE: AC temperature was never an issue. When it was working the AC was COLD and HOT worked fine too. The modes all worked fine too. Although I was hearing creaking noise from the actuator so I replaced it anyway.

The Fix:
  1. Even though I replaced the resistor about 6 months ago, it went bad. It took me a while to figure out that this was the issue since I just replaced it. BUT this time I bought an AC DELCO (Bosch) Resistor (P/N 1581931) not a cheap one on Amazon. This fixed the first issue of the blower fan cutting in and out. Also note that the Blower Motor Wiring Harness (GM 15-75221) that goes from the blower fan to the resistor can also go bad (burn out) so check that as well.
  2. To fix the second issue with the loud blower noise, it was a faulty blend door actuator (PN 52402598) for the driver side vents that was causing the issue. This is located on the passenger side underneath the glovebox area near the center hump.
Other things to note:
  1. You will need a 7 mm socket to remove the 3 screws for the panel on the passenger side.
  2. You will need a 5.5 mm socket to remove the actuators. All mine were fastened with 2 screws
  3. There are 3 actuators related to the FRONT HVAC system. WATCH THIS:
    1. The mode actuator is located on the drivers side near the kick panel that covers the transmission hump
    2. Since mine is a dual climate hvac system
    • The actuator that controls the drivers side is located on the passenger side underneath the glovebox near the kick panel
    • the actuator that controls the passenger side is located behind the trim piece next to the center vents above the glove box.
  4. You have to recalibrate the new actuator after installation. Watch this video:
  • If you cant see the video for some reason, you will need to pull 5 fuses: #70 HVAC Blower, #39 HVAC Battery, #55 HVAC Ignition, #48 AUX HVAC IGN and Fuse #13 in the cabin fuse box located on the drivers side. It will be in the manual of the location since it's hidden.
    • Turn your car off and pull the 5 fuses in the engine bay and let it sit for 20 minutes
    • After 20 min, put back all of the fuses.
    • Then turn the car on but don't touch the AC system. Let it recalibrate for at least 30 seconds
    • Then turn the car off and wait another 15 sec.
    • Turn car on and it should be working as normal
5. Sometimes the actuator is not oriented the right way. I had a hard time with this for the Drivers Side vent actuator located down low on the passenger side.
I found this video to use a 9v battery to orient it so that it fit perfectly:
6. Also clear your AC drain. It is located underneath the vehicle on the passenger side.

Good resolution and sharing.

On my 2005, I had to grind shorter my 5.5mm socket to fit the panel screws, was most difficult of changing my actuator.
