After reading all the threads is there a way to find out whether the vehicle is capable to install the OEM Nav. unit? Would the Vin # tell whether the Tahoe has the brains to allow this install ? I purchase a 2008 model Tahoe in Nov. 08!

The vin number will give a list of your RPO codes. The RPO codes are the specific packages your vehicle is built with, from ac/engine/suspension/rearend/paint codes and audio. All tahoes have the "brains" to handle a Nav radio, but not all vehicles came with factory amp. You will either need to have non lux amp or lux amp.
If you install a NAV radio into a vehicle without a amp your audio will be very low.

OK, so I have ordered the VSS harness, which should complete my install. Last thing to do is the BU cam. I know that the 08's didn't offer the cam in this year, only in 09. So, I don't have the silver module under my passenger seat. Therefore, no harness. Does anyone know how much work this would be? I have installed the Gen 5 Lockpick. It has a BU cam option...... This would probably be the easiest process. But I would like to stay with OEM if possiable.

There is no specific part number for this harness. GM doesn't even make one. You can order it from whoever sells them(don't ask cause i don't know who sells them), or you can make your own(which is what I do). I use a connector that is made for that radio, solder a wire to a terminal and insert it into the connector. Very easy to do if you have basic soldering skills. The wire goes into position 5 of the connector.
If you want a backup cam, do the same with 2 more terminals and insert them into pins 6(+) and 7(-)
Part number for the connector and terminals will be posted below...print it off and take it to your local parts dept and they should be able to get you the parts

hi ok i am planing in fixing my navigaiton by my self so can you help me out so all i have to do is conecte a wire from the position 5 of the radio to the conctor h1 of the juntion box i the nav will work correctley and i will have voice comands is that all or am i missig something thanks?
