Classic Apache Pickup Snags the Likes on Instagram

Starting from a tired foundation in late 2018, Instagrammer builds his 1959 Apache into an all-white-and-chrome stunner.
One of the funnest parts of building a project Chevrolet truck or SUV is documenting the process for the scrapbook. All of those treasured memories in one place for you to share with your friends and family. It’s wonderful to see how far you and your project have come over the course of the build.
The only thing to top that? An Instagram account. More than a few projects have found their way on the long-lived social media app, including the 1959 Apache built by the aptly named 59chevyapache1.

“Time to load her up and start the process,” the Instagrammer wrote on November 18, 2018. Back when the project began — but before he opened his account — his Apache was a tired truck in blue with a good coat of patina. There even appeared to be a plant growing out of the bed. This rig wasn’t going to return to the earth, though.

A few weeks into the build, the Apache’s chassis was sandblasted and painted, and the junkyard LS V8 was polished to a gleam. It also received an intake from an LS3 V8, a pair of ceramic headers, and lots of chrome.

Near the end of March 2019, the Apache was getting some sun before some tuning for the V8. Already, everyone can see this truck was going to be a beauty on the outside.

The inside lives up to the promise of the white-and-chrome exterior, too. There’s a full Dakota Digital dash in the gauge cluster, a brown leather divided bench for luxury, and a mess of fresh wiring for the whole truck to work.

In February 2020, the Apache received its coat of white paint, plus a fresh set of black-and-chrome Raceline Wheels mounted on redline tires. Instead of plants growing in the bed, a full set of polished chrome and wood slats have planted their roots between the metal. The slats will be stained to match the interior soon.

It won’t be long until this Apache rolls out on the road, its LS V8 thundering along the way. Long may this Chevy run.
